different flags from all over the world

While I'm a second-generation Greek immigrant, I have the privilege of being one of the "preferred ones" because I'm white and European. And whether I am or not, harming one group of people harms us all! I don't need more of a reason to use my voice!

It's Immigrant Heritage Month,

and men with hearts of ice break down doors

and tear apart immigrant families

as if their human lives mean nothing,

fueled by one thing: us vs. them mentality.

Their "crime"? Coming here to build a better, safer life. It's Immigrant Heritage Month,

and civilians take to the streets in LA in solidarity,

and the military is unleashed.

Indigenous people face scrutiny

and even detention due to "mistaken identity".

Deport them? To where?

The national guard, supposed protectors of people,

fight against humanity on the wrong side of history.

Immigrants are people first and foremost,

but like every other minority, are treated like foes

when the actual ones are spraying tear gas at unarmed folks.
