a short self-love poem for love day

My poem formatted on a piece of artwork called “Valentine Cell” by David A Litman via Pixels.com. There are pink cells scattered throughout and a big cell encircling a heart in the center. On the bottom right is a picture of 13-year-old me in oval silver glasses and low pigtails.

My red blood cells carry oxygen

with a care I craved from a mother

who carried too many burdens to carry me too.

A promise to that kid in the corner:

I'll cradle you like the cells that continue to keep us alive.
